INTRODUCTION:

This blushed orange 'Apricot' is a very well-known fruit.Botanically known as"Prunus armeniaca".It is also known as 'Khumani' in Hindi. This fruit grows from a deciduous tree and it belongs to the Rosaceae family.

APPEARANCE:

The colour of this fruit ranges from yellow to orange, often it is tinged red on the side that is most exposed to the sun. The surface of this fruit can be smooth and velvety with soft fuzz. This fruit is characterised as a drupe or stone fruit which means that it is a type of fruit in which an outer fleshy part surrounds a shell with a seed inside.It is similar in shape to a peach .

NUTRITION AND CULINARY USES:

Apricots may be small but they are big on both flavor and nutrition.They are rich in Vitamin A and there taste ranges from sweet to tart and can be consumed fresh or dried.This fruit may also be processed into jams,jellies and juices.Apricots are grown best at the places that have consistent cold winter and warm dry summer.
